Additional Information
Research Interests
The beginning of development starts with the fusion of an egg and a sperm during the process of fertilization. I have developed a tool to fluorescently detect the exact moment of fertilization within a living organism. We use this tool to examine the cell-cell interactions that are required to regulate this amazing process. We use a combination of genetics, cell biology, and molecular biology to explore the entire process of making the egg (oogenesis) through fertilization and onto early embryogenesis. My lab studies these dynamic processes in the model organism C. elegans.
