As of June 4, 2025, the following renewal requirements will apply:
- Administrative Renewals: If a teacher does not meet the requirements of 0.5 FTE to renew their admin certificate, they need to take 6-credit hours of graduate level coursework or equivalent professional development no matter how long their certificate has been expired.
- Teaching Renewals: If a teacher does not meet the requirements of 0.5 FTE in the last 5 years to renew their teaching certificate, they need to take 6-credit hours of coursework or equivalent professional development no matter how long their certificate has been expired.
The six hours must be related to the area(s) of endorsement(s) on your certificate and not duplicate any previous coursework within the past 10 years. A passing grade of C or higher is required for renewal courses.
How do I get admitted to UNO?
Candidates entering a renewal program must apply as either a non-degree graduate student (no transcripts required, not eligible to use financial aid) or an unclassified graduate student (transcripts required, may be eligible for financial aid). The deadlines for graduate applications are August 1 for fall; December 1 for spring; and June 1 for summer.
