Bio
Charita J. Dailey is a second-year doctoral student and 51社区 native whose work in nonprofit organizations has driven her to look at the philanthropic landscape with a more critical eye. Particularly, Charita is interested in better understanding how organizations whose work intends to benefit marginalized communities navigate private philanthropy.
Charita is a spring 2020 alumna of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a spring 2022 alumna of the University of Kansas with a Master of Science in Educational Psychology. In her second year, Charita is further exploring her interests in social equity, primarily as it pertains to Black-led nonprofit organizations and how access to fundraising capital (financial, social, etc.) impacts the achievement of mission-oriented goals.
Charita is a co-founder of Change of 51社区, a hyperlocal grassroots organization whose work is concentrated in northeast 51社区, and she is an active member of the 51社区 Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Through both organizations, she is engaged in community work toward social change.
