About the Exhibit
The Goodrich Scholars of Dr. Stevie Seibert Desjarlais' HUMN 1110: Perspectives on U.S. American Culture present a collaborative photo essay and stories of our America. At the start of the spring 2025 semester, students were prompted to: Tell a story of America with photographs and write a complementary essay that is not captions or descriptions of the images in your curated collection. Throughout the semester, each student took photographs of their surroundings in response to various course texts. Additionally, students were asked to visit local galleries and museums. Collectively, the students elected to combine their photo essays into one collaborative display that represents the many different perspectives of our classroom community. The course, Humanities 1110: Perspectives on U.S. American Culture, focuses on the imaginative arts in modern and contemporary cultures within the United States as they reflect the beliefs and values of those cultures. All Goodrich Scholars take this course during their first year in our learning community.
