Bio
Erin Bass is Professor of Management and the James R. Schumacher Chair of Ethics at the University of Nebraska at 51社区. She also serves as Executive Director of UNO’s Competencies, Skills, and Workforce Development Hub, centered on driving forward campus-wide initiatives that strengthen workforce development through collaboration with business and community partners to guide employers and educators on evolving workforce needs.
Bass earned her Ph.D. in Strategic Management from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and joined UNO’s College of Business Administration faculty in 2014. She teaches across undergraduate, graduate, and executive programs, covering courses in strategy, leadership, and business ethics.
An accomplished scholar, Bass has published in top-tier journals such as the Journal of International Business Studies, Academy of Management Review, and Academy of Management Journal. Her research advances both theoretical frameworks and practical applications in strategy and ethics, earning international recognition and influencing scholarly discourse.
Beyond academia, Bass contributes to UNO’s National Counterterrorism Innovation, Technology, and Education Center (NCITE) as a business strategist, where she helps shape the center’s long-term strategy. She also leads a workforce development project that pairs business students with security practitioners, producing projects that deliver real-world value.
A native of Calgary, Canada, Bass brings experience from the energy and nonprofit sectors to her work. She is a board member of Heart Heroes, a nonprofit supporting families affected by congenital heart disease. Through her research, teaching, and community engagement, Bass exemplifies a commitment to scholarly excellence, ethical leadership, and societal impact.
