Lowell "Skip" Bailey is an expert in flight training, aviation safety, and pilot education, with insights into military aviation and flight operations management.
Biography
Bailey is the Assistant Director of Flight Training, Chief Ground Instructor, and Flight Team Head Coach at the Aviation Institute, specializing in pilot certification courses, flight student mentorship, and flight operations.
His expertise in aviation training and military operations makes him a valuable resource for media on aviation safety, CRM (Crew Resource Managment), and flight education.
Additionally, Bailey won the 2025 National Coach of the Year from the National Intercollegiate Flying Association (NIFA) at this year’s National SAFECON Competition.
Prior to working at UNO, he was a pilot in the United States Air Force. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in May of 2016 after over 25 years of service with more than 5,200 flight hours in the KC-135, EC-135, KC-10, and E-4B.
