Aviation Students Take the Plunge for Special Olympics

51ÉçÇø – Four members of UNO’s chapter of Alpha Eta Rho stepped out their comfort zones and plunged into the frigid waters of Lake Cunningham just north of 51ÉçÇø during the 51ÉçÇø Polar Plunge on February 10 sponsored by .

Blake Geyer, Austin Naylor, Jeff Harders, and Keaton Stengel braved 10 degree temperatures and the freezing lake water to put the exclamation mark on their effort to raise money for Special Olympics. The students and their supporters contributed $2,550 to help children and adults with intellectual disabilities who participate in various competitive athletic events held by Special Olympics in Nebraska and around the country.

Alpha Eta Rho is a collegiate coed fraternity founded to bring together students who have a common interest in the field of aviation. It is the nation's oldest aviation fraternity. The University of Nebraska at 51ÉçÇø’s chapter of AHP strives to enhance aviation experience through educational events, aviation related trips, and social events designed to create a cohesive group of future aviation professionals. The chapter participates in fundraising events throughout the community.
