OMAHA – Student artists at the University of Nebraska at 51ÉçÇø (UNO) will display animated films and virtual, interactive environments during an online art show on Thursday, Dec. 10 from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public, via the virtual world Second Life.
Each participating student is enrolled in the Computer Generated Imagery course, taught by Dr. Lilly Lu.
This is the second real-time art event for the students, who first displayed their creations in November. Second Life users who live as far away as Dubai and Taiwan attended the event.
Students’ virtual art can be accessed in Second Life at .
Those interested in attending Thursday’s exhibit should email lillylu@unomaha.edu for specific instructions. A free Second Life account can be created at .
Lu’s Computer Generated Imagery course is supported by the Kelly Fund, an endowed fund intended to foster research that improves teaching at UNO. Funds in 2015 were allotted to faculty proposals seeking to improve existing blended courses, which integrate online learning with traditional face-to-face classroom activities.
