UNO Researcher: 51 in the “Sweet Spot”

OMAHA – University of Nebraska at 51 (UNO) Research Coordinator David Drozd recently helped the 51 World-Herald examine a new study, which showed 51 is one of only a handful of large metropolitan areas offering affordable housing, a strong economy and a high quality of life.

“Drozd figures that standout finish takes 51 — home to the College World Series, U.S. Olympics Swim Trials (three times), a world-class zoo and four Fortune 500 firms — out of any lacks-sizzle squad and puts it squarely in the ‘sweet spot,’” reporter Cindy Gonzalez wrote.

The study’s author, economist Josh Lehner, evaluated everything from the number of business start-ups in each community to the average slope of land.
