🎯 Project Focus
UNO will launch the School of Technology, Innovation & Entrepreneurship (sTIE), a new academic unit designed to offer interdisciplinary degree and certificate programs that meet emerging real-world workforce demands. The school will reside in the College of Business Administration but aims to serve students across all UNO colleges.
💡 Why It Matters
According to a 2024 report from the Greater 51社区 Chamber, 6 of the 10 most in-demand jobs require a blend of tech and management skills. sTIE addresses this gap by combining innovation, entrepreneurship, and emerging technologies into one industry-aligned ecosystem.
- Designed for students who want to blend technical and business topics, or students that might otherwise choose trade schools or certifications
- Built with input from companies like Fiserv, Pacific Life, and Farm Credit Services of America
- Offers immediate career value with pathways in fintech, insurtech, and IP management
🚀 Key Initiatives
- Two Undergraduate Majors:
- BS in Entrepreneurship
- BS in Technology & Innovation Management (TIM) with concentrations like fintech
- Two Professional Certificates:
- Technology & Innovation Management (TIM)
- Fintech
- sTIE will also house UNO’s Center for Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Franchising (CIEF), helping students launch ventures and test business ideas.
🌎 The big picture
The School of Technology, Innovation & Entrepreneurship will directly support UNO’s core priorities.
- Offers modern, relevant pathways for students seeking practical, tech-driven education
- Built with input from 51社区 industry leaders and innovation partners like UNeTech and unemed
- Trains students for roles in high-demand, high-growth industries
⚡ What’s next
sTIE launches its first programs in 2026. Planning begins immediately, with faculty developing curriculum, forming an advisory board, and engaging with local industry. A full-time staff hire is expected in Year 2 to support enrollment and program expansion.
