Sarah Edwards Named Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Excellence and Program Innovation
Sarah Edwards, Ph.D., has been named Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Excellence and Program Innovation, effective July 1, 2025.

A faculty member since 2001, Edwards most recently served as Assistant Vice Chancellor for Curriculum and Programs. In her new role, she will lead campuswide academic initiatives that drive innovation, elevate student success, and support strategic planning across all colleges.
As higher education adapts to shifting workforce needs and student expectations, Edwards’ leadership will be critical in enhancing program quality and creating high-impact, real-world learning opportunities that boost retention and graduation.
Her expanded portfolio includes:
- Launching the Academic Program Indicators dashboard
- Creating annual academic program reports focused on student outcomes, margins, markets, and mission
- Developing combined major degrees and co-op learning options
- Supporting the First Year Initiative
- Leading the Weitz Innovation and Excellence initiatives
These efforts are helping reimagine UNO’s academic offerings for the future.
